Comparison
Designing the conversation against answering the question
Landbot's own definition of a chat is the whole comparison: a structured conversation between your bot and an end user, following a rule based flow. That is a different craft from reading a document and answering from it, and which one you need is decided by whether your visitors ask questions or follow a path.
What Landbot actually is
Landbot describes itself as an AI agent and chatbot that qualifies leads and books meetings around the clock, built and deployed by you, with no code. The centre of it is a visual drag and drop builder, now with an AI Copilot that takes a plain language description and builds the full workflow automatically. It sells the hybrid explicitly: combining the intelligence of AI with the control of rule based chatbots, structured flows plus AI flexibility, with answers grounded in your knowledge base rather than in what the model thinks it remembers. It lists more than 20 native integrations including HubSpot and Salesforce, and over 500 through Zapier and n8n.
The unit definitions are printed on the pricing page and they are the reason this comparison is narrow. A Landbot chat is a structured conversation between your bot and an end user, following a rule based flow, where a user starts a session through actions such as clicking buttons, using keywords, or interacting with triggers and decision points with predefined responses. An AI chat is a separate thing: handled fully or partially by AI agents, allowing the bot to understand user intent and give personalised real time responses rather than relying solely on a predefined flow. Two meters, two definitions, one bill.
Prices are in euros. Free is zero for 100 chats a month, one seat, web only, with the full builder and templates and no AI chats included. Starter is 32 euros a month billed annually or 40 monthly, with 500 chats, 100 AI chats, 2 seats and Messenger and API alongside web, and the comparison table shows Remove Landbot branding as not included. Professional is 80 euros annually or 100 monthly, with 2,500 chats, 300 AI chats, 3 seats, all channels and No Landbot branding. Professional WhatsApp is 160 euros with one WhatsApp number and 10,000 service messages a month, lifting AI chats to 500. Business is custom by contract from 5 seats.
Overflow is priced rather than hidden. Extra chats are 0.05 euros each and are billed in packs of 500 at 25 euros, extra AI chats are 0.10 euros each, and the page states alerts at 80 and 90 percent so the figure does not appear on an invoice unannounced. An additional WhatsApp number is 100 euros a month. There is a 14 day trial on the paid tiers. All of that is what Landbot published on the checked date, in euros, and it moves, so read their pricing page and ours before deciding.
Reasons to choose Landbot instead
Written to be used rather than to be waved at. If any of these describe you, this is the wrong product and the rest of the page will not change that.
- You need the same thing to happen every time. A button tree is deterministic and retrieval is not. If your conversation is a qualification script, a booking, an eligibility check or an order form, design it and test it rather than hoping an assistant reads the right paragraph. This is the strongest reason on the page and it is not close.
- WhatsApp is where the conversation is. Professional WhatsApp at 160 euros a month includes a number and 10,000 service messages, and Meta's 24 hour messaging window and template rules are handled for you. Askably answers on your own website and nowhere else, at any price.
- You want the bot to write into your systems. More than 20 native integrations including HubSpot and Salesforce, plus over 500 through Zapier and n8n, mean the flow can create the record and book the meeting. Nothing here can call anything, look anything up, or write anywhere.
- The free tier lets you build before you pay. Zero euros, 100 chats a month, one seat and the full builder and templates means the design work costs nothing until the traffic shows up, which is the right order for a landing page experiment.
- You are generating leads rather than deflecting questions. Landbot is sold for capturing leads at lower cost and turning traffic into booked, sales ready conversations, and it is built around that outcome. This product answers what somebody asked and takes a message when they want a person.
Reasons to choose this one
- There is no flow to maintain, because there is no flow. Every question a visitor might ask needs a branch on their side or it falls to the AI chat allowance, and that allowance is 100 a month on Starter and 300 on Professional. Here every answer is the AI answer: 1,000 replies at $29 a month, 5,000 at $99, unmetered on Agency.
- Answers are footnoted with numbers that point back into your material, so an argument about a wrong answer becomes an argument about a specific paragraph rather than about a decision node somebody drew six months ago.
- Below a match threshold you choose, the assistant does not improvise and does not fall through to a menu. It returns the fallback sentence you wrote, without reaching a model, and you can raise the threshold until it refuses as readily as you want.
- Their own comparison table shows Remove Landbot branding absent on Free and Starter and present from Professional at 80 euros a month. Our name is off the widget from $29 a month, with no separate white label charge on any tier.
- The bill is in one currency and one unit. Landbot prices in euros with a per chat overage, a separate per AI chat overage, 500 chat packs and a WhatsApp line item. Here there is one allowance of replies and nothing underneath it.

What we could not verify
Listing this is more useful than filling it in. Every line here is something that was not clearly published, or was behind a sign-up.
- Whether Landbot publishes a dollar price list as well as a euro one was not established from the pricing page read, so the figures above should not be converted casually.
- How a conversation that starts in a rule based flow and is then handled partially by an AI agent is counted, and whether it consumes both a chat and an AI chat, was not stated.
- Whether an AI answer shows the visitor which knowledge base passage it came from was not claimed on the pages read.
- What the AI agent does when the knowledge base does not cover the question, and whether it returns to the flow or gives a fallback, was not described.
Questions
- Could I use both?
- You could, but not on the same page. Two launchers is a bad experience and visitors will pick the wrong one. If your site needs a booking flow and a question answerer, pick whichever job is larger and accept the other one is served worse.
- Is there a builder here at all?
- No. There are no cards, no branches, no decision points and no canvas. You index material, set a match threshold, choose the wording of the refusal and the greeting, and install one script tag.
- How do 300 AI chats compare with 1,000 replies?
- They are different units and the ratio is yours to work out. Their AI chat is a whole conversation handled fully or partially by an AI agent. A reply here is one answer returned to a visitor, so several replies can sit inside what they would count as one chat.
- Does this do WhatsApp?
- No, and it will not. There is no messaging channel, no social channel, no SMS and no phone. Your own website is the only place it answers.
