Comparison

Crisp does many things well. This does one thing narrowly.

Crisp sells a shared inbox that swallows every channel a small company is reachable on, with an AI agent, a knowledge base and ticketing around it. The question is not whether that is good. It is whether you have anything to put in eleven channels.

What Crisp actually is

Crisp describes itself as an AI customer support platform, and the centre of it is a shared inbox that centralises inbound messages from many places into one collaborative view. Its own material lists a chat widget, email, WhatsApp, Messenger and eight further channels including SMS, Telegram, Instagram, Viber, phone and Line.

Around the inbox it sells a knowledge base, ticketing on the higher tiers, customer profiles with published caps, and an AI agent that Crisp describes as trained on the public and private resources you already have and capable of handling conversations end to end. Automation flows can be built on any connected channel.

Its pricing is unusual in this market because seats come in blocks rather than one at a time. On the date checked, Free was $0 with two seats, Mini was $45 a month with four seats and additional seats at $10, Essentials was $95 a month with ten seats and a fifty thousand customer profile cap, and Plus was $295 a month with twenty or more seats and a two hundred thousand profile cap. Enterprise was custom, with dedicated onboarding and a personalised service level agreement.

AI usage is expressed as credits included with each tier, presented alongside an approximate number of automated conversations those credits buy. That makes the AI cost predictable at the plan boundary and variable inside it, which is a reasonable trade but is worth understanding before you compare the headline price with anything. All of the above is Crisp's published pricing on the checked date. It moves, so read their page yourself before treating any number here as current.

Reasons to choose Crisp instead

Written to be used rather than to be waved at. If any of these describe you, this is the wrong product and the rest of the page will not change that.

  • You are reachable in more than one place. If enquiries arrive on WhatsApp, Instagram, email and your site, Crisp collapses them into one inbox and Askably ignores all but the last one.
  • The seat maths favours a growing team. Ten seats inside $95 a month is very hard to beat with any per seat product, and it stays hard to beat as you hire.
  • You want a knowledge base you do not have to host yourself. Crisp provides one, grounds the AI in it, and gives you somewhere to put articles. This product reads your material but hosts nothing.
  • You want customer profiles beside the conversation. Crisp publishes profile caps by tier because profiles are part of the product. There is no contact record here at all.
  • You want automation flows across channels, not just answers. Crisp sells that explicitly. Nothing here triggers, branches or campaigns.

Reasons to choose this one

  • The AI allowance is not a credit balance. Starter is $29 a month for 1,000 replies, Growth is $99 for 5,000, and Agency does not meter replies at all.
  • Answers cite their sources by number, so a wrong answer is traceable to the page or file that caused it rather than argued about.
  • You set the caution level, the reply length and how many passages are retrieved, and below your threshold it refuses without reaching the model.
  • For an agency running several client sites, Agency is $299 a month for ten assistants at ten sites each with a custom domain, and branding is off on every paid tier rather than on a premium one.
  • Appearance is yours completely, including custom CSS, and the widget is isolated in a closed shadow root with the panel in a separate frame so it cannot fight your page.

What we could not verify

Listing this is more useful than filling it in. Every line here is something that was not clearly published, or was behind a sign-up.

  • Whether the tier prices shown are the monthly or the annual billing figure was not clear on the page.
  • The exact conversion from an AI credit to an automated conversation is given as an approximation on their side, so the conversation counts should be treated as indicative.

Questions

Is this cheaper than Crisp?
For one website with no support team, yes: $29 a month against $45 for Mini. For a team of ten answering across five channels, no, and it is not close. Crisp is priced well for teams and this is priced for a site.
Can it work as the AI layer while we keep Crisp for the inbox?
You would end up with two widgets on the page, which is a bad experience. If you want Crisp's inbox, use Crisp's AI agent with it.
Does it host a knowledge base?
No. It reads documents you upload or crawls your own site, and answers from that. If you need somewhere to publish articles, you need a help centre as well, and Crisp includes one.
How many client sites does the agency tier cover?
Ten assistants, each allowed ten sites, with unlimited replies, unlimited files, 50,000 pages indexed, unlimited seats, a custom domain and no branding, at $299 a month.
