Comparison

One company, two products, and where neither fits

LiveChat and ChatBot.com are both operated by Text, Inc., and they answer two different questions. LiveChat is for putting a person in the widget. ChatBot is for putting AI in it. Read the resolution counts on the second one carefully before comparing prices with anything.

What LiveChat actually is

LiveChat describes itself as AI live chat software for business, aimed at business software companies and online shops. The product is a chat widget with the tooling a chat team needs around it: canned responses, tags, file sharing, transfers, chat ratings, agent roles, groups and a work scheduler. Its channel list includes the widget, Facebook, Instagram for Business, SMS, email, voice, video and screen sharing, WhatsApp Business, a hosted chat page and Apple Messages for Business.

Its published prices on the date checked were Starter at $19 a person a month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, Team at $49 or $59, Business at $79 or $89, and Enterprise as custom. Chat history is limited to 60 days on Starter and unlimited on Team and above. The trial is 14 days with no card required.

ChatBot.com is the same company's AI product, and it is the closer comparison to anything here. It is trained from help articles, internal documents, URLs and PDF files, with a stated maximum of 50 MB per file. Published pricing was Essential at $19 a month billed yearly or $25 monthly, including one AI agent, 10 AI resolutions a month and 5 reply suggestions, and Growth at $79 yearly or $99 monthly with 10 AI agents, 200 AI resolutions a month and 50 reply suggestions. Enterprise is custom with unlimited resolutions.

So the two products bracket the problem from either side. LiveChat is a human chat business with AI beside it. ChatBot is an AI business sold by resolution. Neither is a flat allowance of answers, which is the shape this product takes. Both sets of prices above are what Text published on the checked date. They move, so read both pricing pages and ours before deciding.

Reasons to choose LiveChat instead

Written to be used rather than to be waved at. If any of these describe you, this is the wrong product and the rest of the page will not change that.

  • You want people in the widget, and LiveChat is unusually good at that specific job. Transfers, ratings, scheduling, roles and groups are all present, and there is nothing equivalent here at any price.
  • You want voice, video or screen sharing in the same conversation. LiveChat lists all three. This product is text on your website and nothing else.
  • You want to avoid an annual commitment. Both LiveChat and ChatBot publish a monthly billing price beside the annual one, so you can pay month to month at a stated figure rather than guessing.
  • Your AI volume is genuinely small. ChatBot Essential at $19 a month is cheaper than $29, and if 10 AI resolutions a month covers your traffic, paying more would be pointless.
  • You are already in the Text ecosystem, or you want social and messaging channels covered by the same vendor as the widget.

Reasons to choose this one

  • The allowance is much larger at the entry price, though the units differ and you should check both: Starter here is 1,000 replies a month at $29, where ChatBot Essential publishes 10 AI resolutions a month at $19. A reply is one answer returned; a resolution is their unit, defined on their side.
  • Every answer carries numbered citations, so a wrong answer points at the document that caused it.
  • Below the match threshold you set, it refuses without reaching the model, in wording you wrote, and you also control caution level, reply length and passage count.
  • Starter includes three assistants at three sites each with our branding removed, which suits anyone running more than one site without moving up a tier.
  • Appearance is fully brandable including custom CSS, and the widget is isolated in a closed shadow root with the panel in its own frame so it cannot break your page.

Read off their own site on that date, quoted narrowly. Prices and packaging in this category change often, so treat this as a snapshot and check both before you decide.

What we could not verify

Listing this is more useful than filling it in. Every line here is something that was not clearly published, or was behind a sign-up.

  • How ChatBot defines an AI resolution, and what happens to conversations that do not become one, was not stated on the pricing page.
  • Whether AI resolutions purchased on LiveChat plans are metered on the same basis as ChatBot resolutions was not confirmed.

Questions

Which of the two should I compare this against?
ChatBot.com. LiveChat is a human chat product and this is not, so comparing them mostly measures things this product does not do.
Is 1,000 replies really a hundred times more than 10 resolutions?
No, and it would be dishonest to say so. Their resolution is a coarser unit than one reply, and how many replies sit inside a resolution depends on their definition, which we could not read. Compare on your own traffic, not on the headline numbers.
Can visitors reach a person through this widget?
Not live. It collects a name, an email and a message when someone asks for a person and emails that to an address you choose. LiveChat exists precisely because that is not always good enough.
Does it support voice or video?
No. There is no phone, no voice and no video at any tier.
