Comparison
Button trees are predictable. They are also finite.
Chaport's automation cannot invent anything, because it does not generate anything. It follows a scenario you drew and it matches keywords against articles you wrote. That is a genuine safety property and a genuine ceiling, and which of the two matters more depends entirely on what your visitors ask.
What Chaport actually is
Chaport is deliberately small, cheap and unfussy. Three tiers: a free plan with two operators, a Pro plan with four operators, and an Unlimited plan with an unlimited number of them. The free plan carries sixty day chat history, unlimited chats and unlimited websites, and one default auto invitation described on the page as branded. Pro lifts the history limit. Unlimited is where chatbots and the knowledge base with its FAQ bot live.
Pricing is the weak part of the page rather than the product. Figures are shown in euros, and each paid tier displayed two of them, a lower and a higher, without the rendered content distinguishing which was the monthly rate and which the annual. A separate Chaport feature page quoted the Unlimited plan in dollars at a third figure that reconciles with neither. Nothing about a Chaport price is asserted here as a result.
The automation is deterministic. Chaport's own chatbot material describes the common type as a button based bot that works according to a specified scenario and offers the visitor several reply options presented as buttons, assembled in a scenario editor they describe as usable without any programming skills. It can collect data during a conversation, message proactively, and hand a visitor to an operator when the scenario runs out.
The FAQ bot is a separate and simpler thing again: it suggests relevant articles from your FAQ portal based on the keywords in a visitor's question. It fires once per session after the visitor's first message, waits five seconds before replying, and connects the visitor to an operator for anything it cannot match. The trial is fourteen days of the Unlimited plan with no card, after which the account is automatically downgraded to the free plan, described as available forever. Everything above was published on the checked date and it moves.
Reasons to choose Chaport instead
Written to be used rather than to be waved at. If any of these describe you, this is the wrong product and the rest of the page will not change that.
- You want automation that cannot say anything you did not write. A scenario bot has no generative surface at all, so there is no hallucination risk to manage, no threshold to tune and no wrong answer to audit. On a regulated topic, or anywhere a mistaken sentence is expensive, that is a safety property worth choosing on purpose rather than a limitation to work around.
- Seats are your cost problem. The Unlimited plan carries an unlimited number of operators for one flat fee, which is a shape no per seat product survives comparison with once a team grows past a handful of people.
- You need a public help centre and a place to put articles. Chaport publishes one, lets you keep private articles for agents alongside the public ones, and points the FAQ bot at it. This product reads material but hosts nothing and publishes nothing.
- Live human chat is the actual requirement. Real operators in the widget, on a free tier that covers two of them at zero, is a complete answer for a small team. Nobody here joins a conversation, ever.
- The team running it is not technical and will not be trained. A scenario editor with buttons, no code, no retrieval settings, no match thresholds and no caution levels is the entire point. Simplicity is what Chaport sells and it sells it well.
Reasons to choose this one
- Visitors do not have to pick from a list you predicted. A retrieval assistant answers a question asked in the visitor's own wording, in prose, from the document that covers it. A scenario bot can only answer questions somebody already drew a branch for.
- A keyword match suggests an article. This one reads it. Where the FAQ bot points at a page it thinks is relevant and leaves the visitor to find the paragraph, this returns the paragraph as an answer with numbered references to the passages it used.
- The safety property Chaport gets from having no generation, this one gets from a threshold. Below the match score you choose, nothing reaches the model and the visitor sees your own fallback wording. You also set the caution level, the reply length and how many passages are retrieved.
- The price list is four published dollar figures that do not depend on the number of operators: $0, $29, $99 and $299 a month. Three separate Chaport pages gave us figures in two currencies that we could not reconcile.
- Presentation is fully under your control including custom CSS, the launcher sits in a closed shadow root and the panel in its own frame, and there is no vendor name on the widget on any paid tier.
What they published on 8 September 2026
Read off their own site on that date, quoted narrowly. Prices and packaging in this category change often, so treat this as a snapshot and check both before you decide.
| Plan structure | Three tiers listed: a free plan with two operators, Pro with four operators, and Unlimited with an unlimited number of operators. |
|---|---|
| Figures shown | Prices appeared in euros with two figures against each paid tier, twenty nine and thirty nine for Pro and ninety nine and one hundred and twenty nine for Unlimited, without the rendered page distinguishing monthly from annual. |
| Free plan limits | Sixty day chat history, unlimited chats and unlimited websites, and one default auto invitation described on the page as branded. |
| Where the automation sits | Chatbots and the knowledge base with FAQ bot were both listed on the Unlimited plan only. |
| What kind of bot it is | Their chatbot material describes the common type as a button based bot that works according to a specified scenario and offers the user several reply options presented as buttons, built in a scenario editor with no programming skills required. |
| How the FAQ bot works | Described as suggesting relevant articles from your FAQ portal based on the keywords in visitors' questions, triggered once per session after the visitor's first message and replying after a five second delay. |
| Trial and downgrade | Fourteen days of the Unlimited plan with no card required, after which the account is automatically downgraded to the free plan, which their help centre describes as available forever. |
What we could not verify
Listing this is more useful than filling it in. Every line here is something that was not clearly published, or was behind a sign-up.
- Which of the two figures shown against each paid tier is the monthly rate and which is the annual rate could not be distinguished from the page content.
- A Chaport feature page quoted the Unlimited plan in dollars at a figure that reconciles with neither euro figure on the pricing page, so no Chaport price above should be treated as authoritative.
- Whether Chaport branding can be removed from the chat widget, and on which tier, was not stated on the pricing page or on the help centre pages read.
- Whether any Chaport bot uses a language model rather than keyword matching and scenarios was not stated on any page read.
Questions
- Is a scenario bot worse than this?
- It is narrower and safer. It will never answer something you did not anticipate, which is a failure when a visitor asks something reasonable and a virtue when the wrong sentence would cost you. Pick on the basis of how varied your questions actually are.
- Can I keep a help centre and use this with it?
- Yes, if the help centre is somewhere we can crawl. It indexes your own site following your sitemap and obeying robots rules, so a published help centre is ordinary source material. We do not host one for you.
- Does this collect data mid conversation the way a scenario bot does?
- Only at the point of handover, and only three fields: a name, an email and a message, sent to an address you nominate. There is no qualification flow, no branching form and no proactive invitation.
- Why will you not quote a Chaport price?
- Because their own pages gave us three figures across two currencies and we could not tell which was current. Publishing one of them and calling it their price would be a coin toss dressed up as research.
