Comparison
What Tidio actually charges for, and what we charge for
Tidio is built for small online shops that want a person, a bot and a ticket queue in one widget. It is good at that. The thing worth reading carefully before you buy is how many different things it counts, because billable conversations and Lyro conversations are not the same meter.
What Tidio actually is
Tidio is a live chat and ticketing tool aimed squarely at small ecommerce and small service businesses. The widget carries human chat, an email management side, and automation, and the paid tiers add analytics, assignment rules and department management. Its integration list leans towards shop platforms and the messaging channels a shop is likely to be sold through.
Its AI agent is Lyro. Tidio's own page for it says Lyro scrapes your support content and uses that as its knowledge base, and publishes an average resolution rate across its customers rather than a guarantee about your material. Lyro conversations are metered, and they are metered separately from the billable conversations that a plan includes.
On the pricing page, the free plan listed 50 Lyro conversations as a one off rather than a monthly allowance, alongside 100 Flows visitors reached. Starter, shown at $24.17 a month when billed annually, listed 100 billable conversations. Growth started at $49.17 a month billed annually, Plus at $300 a month plus usage, and Premium was contact only. Annual billing was described as two months free.
The result is a product with several dials: how many conversations your humans handle, how many the AI handles, and how many people the automation flows reach. That gives Tidio a very cheap entry point and a bill that can move in more than one direction at once. Everything quoted here is what Tidio published on the checked date. Prices and allowances move, so check theirs and ours before committing.
Reasons to choose Tidio instead
Written to be used rather than to be waved at. If any of these describe you, this is the wrong product and the rest of the page will not change that.
- You sell through social and messaging. Tidio lists Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email alongside the site widget. Askably has none of those and will not answer a single message outside your own website.
- You want a human in the widget. Tidio's paid plans are built around live chat and ticketing with real people, including assignment and departments on the higher tiers. This product takes a message and emails it to you, which is a slower thing entirely.
- You want visual automation, not only question answering. Tidio's Flows are triggered sequences that can qualify, route and nudge. That is a different job from reading a document and answering from it, and nothing here does it.
- You are at a volume where the meters favour you. Fifty Lyro conversations plus a hundred human conversations at around $24 a month is genuinely cheap for a small shop, and cheaper than $29 flat if your traffic is thin.
- You already run one of the shop platforms it integrates with, and want order context beside the chat. Askably has no order or account lookup unless you connect a separate data source yourself.
Reasons to choose this one
- One meter, not three. Starter is $29 a month for 1,000 replies across three assistants and three sites each, with no separate AI allowance running underneath the plan allowance.
- Answers are grounded in exactly what you indexed: uploaded documents in the usual office formats, plain text, spreadsheets and slides, or a crawl of your own site that obeys robots rules and follows your sitemap. Nothing else gets in.
- Every answer shows numbered citations, and below your chosen match threshold it refuses without calling the model, in wording you wrote.
- Our branding comes off at $29 a month, and the free tier that keeps it is genuinely free rather than a countdown.
- The trial is 14 days on the Growth tier with no card, and when it ends the workspace drops to the free tier instead of switching off.

What we could not verify
Listing this is more useful than filling it in. Every line here is something that was not clearly published, or was behind a sign-up.
- The monthly billing price for each tier was not captured, only the annual billing view, so the undiscounted figure may be higher than the numbers above.
- Exactly how a billable conversation is counted, and how it differs from a Lyro conversation, was not defined on the pricing page itself.
Questions
- Can I keep Tidio for live chat and add this for answers?
- Technically you can run both, but you would have two launchers on one page and visitors would not know which to use. If you want a person in the widget, Tidio alone is the cleaner answer.
- Does it handle Instagram or WhatsApp enquiries?
- No. There is no social or messaging channel of any kind, no SMS and no phone. Your website only.
- What happens when a visitor wants a human?
- It collects a name, an email and a message and emails that to an address you nominate. Nobody joins the conversation live.
- Will it invent an answer if my documents do not cover a question?
- It should not. Below the match threshold you set it never reaches the model and returns your fallback message instead. You can raise the caution level to make that refusal happen sooner.
